Sega Software R&D Dept. 8 was closed, only eleven months after it was created, on April 21, [[2000]]. On the same day, it became '''Sonicteam Ltd.'''. In 2004, the company was moved back in-house in Sega as '''Sonicteam Division'''.

Sonicteam Division was closed on July 1, [[2004]], and on the same day, it became '''Global Entertainment Research & Development Department 1''', commonly referred to as '''Sega Global Entertainment R&D Dept. 1''' or '''Sega GE1'''.
