PC-9801 was a series of computers by Nippon Electric Company.

Computers in this line were released from October 1982 to November 1988.

They were preceded by the PC-8801 series.


All of the PC-9801 models were exclusive to Japan.

The original PC-9801 was released in October 1982.

The PC-9801 F1 and PC-9801 F2 were released in October 1983, followed by the PC-9801 E in November 1983.

The PC-9801 F3 was released in October 1984, followed by the PC-9801 M2 in November 1984.

The PC-9801 M3 was released in February 1985 and the PC-9801 U2 was released in June 1985.

The PC-9801 VF2, PC-9801 VM0, and PC-9801 were released in July 1985, followed by the PC-9801 VM4 in October 1985.

The PC-9801 UV2 was released in June 1986, followed by the PC-9801 VM21, PC-9801 VX0, PC-9801 VX2, PC-9801 VX4, and PC-9801 VX4/WN in November 1986.

The PC-9801 VX01, PC-9801 VX21, PC-9801 VX41, and PC-9801 UV21 were released in June 1987.

The PC-9801 VX41/WN was released in July 1987, followed by the PC-9801 UX21, and PC-9801 UX41 in October 1987.

The PC-9801 UX11 and PC-9801 CV21 were released in March 1988, followed by the PC-9801 RA2 and PC-9801 RA5 in July 1988.

The PC-9801 RX2 and PC-9801 RX4 were released in September 1988, then the PC-9801 VM11 was released in November 1988.
