Mirrorsoft was the video game division of the Mirror Group.
It was the first company to release Tetris in Western Europe.
Formation
Jim Mackonochie founded Mirrorsoft as the video game division of Mirror Group Newspapers in 1983.
Acquisition by Maxwell Communications
It was acquired by Robert Maxwell, through Maxwell Communications, in 1984.
Bankruptcy and closure
Robert Maxwell disappeared in 1991 from his yacht and was discovered dead on November 5. Mirrorsoft subsequently declared bankruptcy in 1992 and went into administration in November.
Mirrorsoft laid of most of its staff on New Year's Eve 1992, and the remaining staff was kept on until the business closed a few months later.
Several business assets were purchased by Acclaim Entertainment.
