Isabelle is a character that is part of a Japanese multimedia series consisting of comics, films, magazines, music, and video games.
She has been a non-playable character in Animal Crossing games since her debut in Animal Crossing: New Leaf in 2012.
She first became a playable character in the Animal Crossing x Mario Kart 8 DLC for Wii U in 2015 as well as in the main game in the enhanced port Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch.

Isabelle is a prominent citizen who often helps the human villager who traveled to an area of animals to become the leader of a civilization there.
